Well, I find myself completely wide awake at almost six in the morning. Caffeine is a hell of a drug. Anyway I have some time, and since I am too awake to sleep but not motivated enough to do anything, I will type to ya'll.

Australia has confirmed that it will purchase 24 Boeing F/A-18F Block II Super Hornets. The decision came after years of heel-dragging from the previous administration, and is meant to replace Australia's fleet of F-111s.

Speaking of the JSF, the Pentagon has announced a report that the costs of the F-35 have decreased .3 percent, saving $981.3 million dollars. This report contradicts a GAO report claiming that costs were controlled by cutting back test-flights and the number of test aircraft built, which could lead to massive cost inflation later in the program.

"I'm honestly happy any time costs don't increase." - Major General Charles Davis, joint program executive officer.

Come fly the plastic skies

Jane's is reporting that due to the increasing costs of fuel the Air Force has accelerated research into the Efficient Affordable Global Lift (EAGL) flight demonstrator. The goal of EAGL is to construct the largest composite aircraft the USAF has attempted in order to reduce fuel costs while surpassing the C-5B Galaxy in payload, range, and speed. The project is attempting to complete and fly a demonstrator aircraft within 36 months.

The F-35 JSF program underwent a drastic weight savings effort a few years back - that effort saved a massive amount of weight, and it will be interesting to see what is possible with an air transport.

Although, I will give it to Obama on the "bitter" part. I've been to western Pennsylvania. "Bitter" doesn't even begin to describe what it's like out there. You know those movies where the main character wants to get desperately out of where he's from, and it always starts with him and his best friend working in some factory, and his best friend falls into a vat of molten steel? That's western Pennsylvania.

Hey, all. Haven't been on in a while, so I thought I'd update on my recent goings on. The last time I updated was November, when I was sworn in as an attorney. Ben (one of my roommates) and I had been going rock climbing once a week for about a month at that point. Since then, we've pulled in a whole group - about five of us go every weekend to MetroRock, in Everett.

I've been keeping busy with work since then, as well. The number of projects I have has been steadily building, and though it's some challenging stuff, I've been working on some really interesting cases. In the six months I've been at the firm, I've worked with inventors, examiners, attorneys, and business leaders on four continents. Today, I went back to BU Law to give a talk to the students on careers in Intellectual Property.

Hey there everyone. Just up late getting a few things done before we go to the hospital for Jackie's surgery in a few hours. Of course, after this much coffee and a few days worth of stress, there are all kinds of things on my mind. In no particular order,
